When it showed up at the door I was a bit surprised. It was a bit bigger than I thought and much heavier. This is one serious piece of equipment. I bought this to replace a smaller strip shredder I had in my home office. Security was the #1 concern...and number of sheets it could handle was #2. This thing is great. A bit overkill for the home office...but I love it. It can shred junk mail without opening it. It handles credit cards with no problems. Just be prepared - it sits about 3 feet tall, but the sideways orientation makes it easily fit between a desk and a filing cabinet or bookcase. It comes with everthing you need to get started - includings bags and oil. My only disappointment is that the inside catch box is plastic corrigated cardboard (maybe because of weight) I just wonder if that will hold up. On the pricey side...but I would say worth the extra money!
Very Good Shredder November 15, 2004 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
We're very happy with our Powershred. We have a medical practice so we do a lot of shredding, and we have gone through 3 other shredders in 3 years. But this is the first shredder we've had that seems well suited to doing lots of shredding in any given day. The smaller home office/ small office shredders can't really take daily usage. The Powershred 120C is a nice a slim design, and allows for more placement options. As for the weight, that really not a factor since you don't have to move it around. Noise is not a big factor either, it's hard to quantify sound, but as I've said I've had four now, and this is not especially noisy. It handles 10 sheets at time time easily Good design, relatively quite, fast, and easy to use and empty. We bought with a rebate so we feel we did very well indeed.
Powershred C-120C March 25, 2008 This is an excellent shredder. It runs very quiet. We've been through 2 shredders in the last 3 years but it seems as if we have finally found a quality product that can handle a lot of shredding. It handles 10 sheets at a time without any problem. The unit will occasionally back up especially if you are shredding a lot. The reverse button works great but you still need to open the drawer and release the paper. We have only found this to be a problem when we are shredding a large amount(200 sheets or more)at one continual operation. I would recommend this shredder to any small office that does a large amount of shredding.
Fellowes Powershred C-120C 12-14 sheet Confetti Cut Shredder July 10, 2008 Works great! though says bin is full when there is still room for more shredding. Very good value for your money.
So far, this ROCKS! August 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
WAY COOL SHREDDER! Let me explain. I tried several "Staples" brand, micro cut shredders, and was happy with the results, but very unhappy that they could not provide continuous duty! I researched, even called Fellowes, about what they had to offer, and this was the result: their C-120C "Binford 2000" cross cut shredder.
The only complaint is the waste bin is attached to the door, and it is made out of cheap material, probably with slave labor.
Another issue is watch out who you tell. I told co-workers about getting this for my private use, and EVERYONE laughed at me! Scooter said he would use his cheap $20 dollar shredder until it started to smoke! Lizzie-Lou just sat there and smiled. Techno-Matt offered to shred ALL of my paper for my ENTIRE LIFE for $200.00; yet HE is the one who runs out and gets his little EYE-PHONE, EYE-MAC, DROBO (not yet), Hi-Tech-Bicycle (does he ride it?), etc., but that is another story. My "work-wife", Jen, remained in her cube, providing no feedback, but she is like a mercat on Mercat Manor...pipes up and chatters away when something interesting happens. Her real husband and I agree eye-to-eye, and that is get the best you can afford, and buy it ONCE!
Hopefully, this shredder is the answer to that mantra! I will keep you posted as to its performance!
